About this event
A quiet evening walk through the Pisgah Forest, timed for peak firefly season.
Join us on Saturday, May 31, as our Asheville Chapter explores the Pink Beds Trail in Pisgah National Forest. This 5.1-mile loop winds through meadows and wetlands, with minimal elevation gain and a relaxed pace. As dusk settles, we’ll pause at a known blue ghost firefly viewing spot, observing the light show in near silence. This easy-to-moderate hike is restorative, slow, and best experienced with care. Bring water, layers, and a red-light headlamp or flashlight. This hike is free to attend, but registration is required to reserve your spot.
Dogs are typically allowed on leash, but we don’t recommend bringing them for firefly scouting. The quiet atmosphere and nighttime setting are better suited to a pup-free experience.
Please bring a red-light flashlight or headlamp to help preserve night vision (yours and the fireflies’). Stay on the trail and avoid disturbing leaf litter, where female fireflies rest during courtship.
